Edikan Brown, Founder
Founded in 2020 during the pandemic.
Conscious Eats was born from a deeply personal desire to preserve cultural identity, support small businesses, and empower independent creatives in the face of the unprecedented challenges the Pandemic brought. During this time, I, like many others, found myself grappling with uncertainty. I lost my job in the hospitality industry, a field I had dedicated years of my life to, and witnessed countless small businesses and artists struggling to pivot and survive.
The pandemic didn’t just isolate us—it threatened to erase the cultural fabric that makes our neighborhoods special. Restaurants closed, venues went dark, and the voices of independent creatives were increasingly silenced. As someone who has always found strength in community, I felt compelled to act. I started small: hosting virtual events like a 'Virtual Spa Day' for connection and self-care and collaborating with a local brewery to curate events that brought people back into shared spaces safely.
These early efforts planted the seeds for Conscious Eats, an initiative fueled by resilience, creativity, and faith. It grew from an idea into a platform where small businesses, artists, and communities could not just recover but thrive together. Today, Conscious Eats is more than just a business—it’s a mission to ensure that progress doesn’t come at the expense of the people and cultures that give neighborhoods their soul.
Through immersive events, artist development programs, and creative collaborations, Conscious Eats works to build ecosystems that celebrate diversity, foster connection, and drive meaningful impact in urban communities.
Our mission is to preserve culture in urban neighborhoods by establishing ecosystems where local venues, small businesses, artists, and communities grow and thrive together. The goal is to make these communities resilient, self-sufficient, and fruitful to the point of positive economic impact for the individuals in these ecosystems and abroad - some may call this Urban Planning.
